Dual Double-gradient-echo MRI for Liver Fat Content Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have devised a modified Dixon method for analyzing fatty infiltration of the liver using a dual doublegradient-echo (DDGRE) sequence. To correct the T2* decay, fourfold echo images were obtained by out-of-phase (TE = 2.3/6.9 ms) and in-phase (4.6/9.2 ms) double-echo sets during a single breath-hold scan on a 1.5 T MRI. The liver fat fractions obtained using the DDGRE method were determined in patients with fatty liver and in healthy volunteers as controls. Moreover, the fat fractions determined in vitro using the DDGRE method were compared with those determined by the conventional double-gradient-echo method, other MRI methods, and X-ray CT. The average fat fractions in patients with fatty liver obtained with the DDGRE method was over 10%, and was significantly greater than those in healthy volunteers. The fat fraction of the phantom obtained with the DDGRE method showed the closest agreement with the actual fat content. The DDGRE method with a single breath-hold makes it possible to simply and accurately analyze fatty infiltration of the liver.

Non-invasive quantification of liver fat content by different Gradient Echo MRI sequences in patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)
Introduction: Non-invasive quantification of liver fat by Gradient echo (GRE) Technique is an interesting issue in quantitative MRI. Despite the numerous advantages of this technique, fat measurement maybe biased by confounding and effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the GRE pulse sequences with different and weighting for liver fat quantification in patients with...

Introduction Fatty infiltration of the liver is one of the primary features of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Therefore, accurate quantification of the liver fat content is an important factor in detecting hepatic diseases. MRI is an efficient noninvasive tool for assessing liver fat content. A commonly used liver fat quantification technique with MRI is a dual echo imaging (two gradient seq...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate hepatic fat fraction on dual- and triple-echo gradient-recalled echo MRI sequences in healthy children. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the records of children in a medical check-up clinic from May 2012 to November 2013. We excluded children with abnormal laboratory findings or those who were overweight. Hepatic fat fraction was measured on dual- and t...
متن کاملAssociations between Dietary Nutrient Intakes and Hepatic Lipid Contents in NAFLD Patients Quantified by 1H-MRS and Dual-Echo MRI
Dietary habits are crucial in the progression of hepatic lipid accumulation and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, there are limited studies using ¹H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (¹H-MRS) and dual-echo in-phase and out-phase magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (dual-echo MRI) to assess the effects of dietary nutrient intakes on hepatic lipid contents. In the present study...

Introduction In the past decade, the incidence increase of obesity, diabetes and lipid metabolism disorders involved an epidemic increase of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Diseases (NAFLD) which may affect from 10 to 30% of adults and 13% of children in the occidental population. NAFLD can evolve to Non-Alcoholic Steato-Hepatitis (NASH) and may lead to liver fibrosis up to cirrhosis from which compl...
